Capitation based payments is the current system set by Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand, on the numbers of enrolled in the practice who belongs to Health Hawkes Bay population. The formula takes into account demographic make-up of the population

It does not differentiate on your health needs or between a doctor, nurse practitioner, nurse visit; does not cover health care assistant, or any other members of the team caring for you

  • This funding is only for the standard 15 minute consultation
  • This does not apply for if you seek After-Hours care at another provider; and in fact Mahora Medical pays the After-Hours Provider a fee for your attendance at their centre; so where possible it is better care for you to be seen at Mahora
  • Does not apply to Drivers Medical, ECG, Urine test, New Patient initial visit

(Please check with our team to ensure you are on the correct funding; we expect payment on the day, if you are unable to do so, please see our team for options)

As Mahora Medical has a broad range of extremely skilled team with a wide range of scope, you care can be safely provided by these individuals with the complete trust that Dr Regi Nair, the Clinical Director has

Yes, absolutely, you will be seen on-the-day if needed by our team to suit your needs by the most experienced member via our dedicated triage team

  • For unplanned care, you might need to wait in the clinic for a brief time
  • For routine care, this will be planned in advance
  • Please refer to (link)
  • The Patient Portal is for planned care; urgent appointments are to be triaged by our team daily via a triage system

Your care will be full funded for standard 15 minute consultation and prescription

The community services subsidy is for an in-person clinic visit; but we don’t always need to see everyone in person all the time; there is a time and human factor that goes behind a repeat script to make sure you are getting the correct treatment; it also saves you time from coming into the clinic in person

A lot of vaccinations are fully funded, please check with our team

Some patients are able to have a fully funded smear, please check with our nursing team

We will occasionally have Saturday clinics to meet demands (please check our website for when there will be)
