Our Team
Promote access to care that ensures care is provided at the right time by the right person.
Right Person, Right Care, Right Time
Mahora Medical has a long history in Mahora, where a sole GP – Dr Ross English worked for well over 30 years.
In 2020, during the Covid pandemic, Dr English retired, and the community was served by Locums, until March 2023, where Dr Regi Nair came on board as a permanent solution for the patients of Hawkes Bay.
Starting with 3 members in March 2023, we are at 16 permanent members of the team. These are all carefully selected exceptional individuals that complements Mahora Medical’s vision to deliver outstanding care to you and your whanau.

Sara has vast experience after working in various settings for the past decade. However, her areas of interest include mental health, chronic and acute wound management, vaccines and immunity, and sexual health.
Sara is currently completing her Nurse Prescriber training – enabling her to see, assess and prescribe a list of medications.
Catherine
Health Care Assistant
A Health Care Assistant is a skilled health care provider, working under the delegative framework to help with your health care needs.
I have had jobs previously where I have worked with animals, my main interest. In particular, penguins, rhinos and stingrays.
After sometime in a receptionist role and an amazing trip to Africa. I decided it was time to retrain and I completed a vet nursing course which I really enjoyed, but I ended up looking after people instead. The medical skills I learnt for caring for animals did easily cross over to human patients. Plus is a lot easier to count a persons heart rate than a guinea pigs.
I love my role as a health care assistant, I particularly enjoy wound care and making patients feel comfortable with any procedures they may need.
When not at work I enjoy spending time catching up with my daughter, socializing with friends, fighting the weeds in my garden, and anything to do with animals.
Brendan
Pharmacist Prescriber
My whānau and I moved to the Hawkes Bay from Taranaki in 2011. I studied pharmacy in Dunedin (Otago University) and registered as a pharmacist in 2000. My pharmacy experience started in community (retail) pharmacy and moved to being a General Practice Clinical Pharmacist in 2011. In 2013, I completed a specialist postgraduate qualification in Pharmacist Prescribing, registering as a Pharmacist Prescriber in 2014.
I am passionate about working alongside people to get the best health benefits from medicines. My expertise is in helping with long term health problems, including diabetes, heart problems and lung problems (e.g. Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease – COPD).
